BILL ENDOW SCHOLARSHIP BACKGROUND

IMPORTANT: Anyone who’s applying for The William “Bill” Endow Scholarship must attend orientation on Monday November 9, 2009 at Clark High School Theatre.  We will have two sessions to accommodate students one at 2:30pm and 4:00pm.

Any interested Sophomore, Junior & Seniors who would like to know more about this scholarship are encourage to attend and learn more about the Gates Millennium Scholarship

Mr. Bill Endow

• Born in Hood River, Oregon
• Placed in concentration camps as a six year old with 115,000 other Japanese Americans during World War II
• Received his engineering degree from Oregon State University, 1958
• Commissioned officer, United States Army, 1960 – 1962
• Married 31 years, two sons
• President and Vice President, Japanese American Citizens League
• Vice President, Asian Chamber of Commerce
• Board member, Pacific Asian Coalition for Education
• Member, Asian Pacific Forum
• Engineer, Bechtel Nevada
• Businessman, Interior Systems, Inc.

Purpose of Scholarship

• To honor Asian American students with high academic achievement and a desire to pursue a college education
• To honor Asian American students who continue to work within their Asian communities to promote ethnic and cultural identity
• To honor Asian American students who demonstrate a commitment to voluntary service to our Las Vegas community
• To honor Asian American students who demonstrate leadership, citizenship, scholarship, service and character
• To honor Asian American students with skills in athletics and/or activities
